Stereoverso: #Fifth

Good day, people! In this episode I will bring you another music issue to boost your day. This fifth episode of Stereoverso is All About That Bass Jazz. What's your idea about jazz? Classy? Boring? Beautiful? Eargasm? It's up to your taste. As I listen to jazz I feel back in time when TV is in black and white and most of people dressed-up and go to theatre to watch the orchestra, when people still struggle on World War and racial issue, when people start to compete to make new invention until Neil Armstrong made it to the moon. That's enough about those world history. What I feel about jazz is mostly its vibe.  It brings me to a beautiful afternoon with orange sunset view, having cuppa of tea in my terrace, watching my dog lie down on garden, while my little brother watch the classic Tom and Jerry cartoons on TV. But, what's the point of this?

I begin to listen jazz often when I was in 6th Semester of my college. At beginning, I feel odd when listen to this genre. But, as I listen more, I accidentally in love with jazz. It's like my happy pill. I can listen to jazz for hours while doing nothing. It's a simple happiness. Well, happiness comes from small things right?

Jazz, in its genre also being classified more in sub-genres. There's smooth jazz, funk jazz, experimental jazz, jazz rock, bebop, swing, bossanova, classic jazz, and so on. I will not explain it all. It will take a long writing. You can find a lot of information about jazz on books, magz, and internet. Just ask Prof. Google and I bet he will gives you a lot, more than what you ask. (Wait, is Prof. Google a "he/she"?! I'm not concern for that such thing). For me, I recently like classic jazz and swing.

Below is a list of jazz. Contains most of classic jazz, jazz icon such as Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, and a little bit swing, French, and funk. Listen to it and expand your music directory. You'll never know about the time you begin to fall in love with jazz.

1.       Ella Fitzgerald - Goody Goody
Actually I found this song a couple of days ago. Overall the sound is fun. But, what I find strange is the music. I feel I have listened this somewhere. Then I reminisce about Gado-Gado song that my friend used for her college assignment. That song is sung by an Indonesian oldies band. The lyrics tell about Gado-Gado as delicious food. On some parts there's a similarity melody as Goody Goody. I don't want to write about pirating or what. I just find it funny. Goody-Goody to Gado-Gado.

2.       Duke Ellington - I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good)

3.       Kevin Spacey - Mack The Knife

4.       Glenn Miller - In The Mood

5.       Pink Martini - Sympathique

6.       Michel Legrand - Paris in The Spring

7.       Billie Holiday - You Go To My Head

8.       Chris Barber Jazz Band - The World Is Waiting For The Sunrise

9.       Barney Kessel - Carmen's Cool Modern Jazz Performances From 1958

10.   Louis Prima - Just A Gigolo / I Ain't Got Nobody

11.   Louis Armstrong - La Vie En Rose

12.   Frank Sinatra - New York New York

13.   Leonardo and His Impeccable Six - Just A Gigolo

This is one of Indonesian cool bands!
